Frequently Asked Questions
Providing clear answers to common repair issues helps you make informed decisions about your home. Here are some of the most frequent questions we receive at P&D Home Solutions, LLC.
Drywall & Interior Walls
Not when it’s done right. We focus on seamless blending by using the correct texture matching and feathered sanding techniques. Once painted, the repair should be completely invisible.
Not necessarily. If the drywall is still structurally sound (not sagging or crumbling), we can often treat the stain and repaint. However, if the material has softened, it must be replaced to prevent mold growth and structural failure.
Rotted Wood & Exterior Trim
Unfortunately, no. Painting over rot is like putting a bandage on a deep infection — the fungus will continue to eat the wood underneath. We remove the compromised sections and replace them with rot-resistant materials or treated wood to ensure a long-lasting fix.
In the South Central Texas climate, we see it most often around door frames, window sills, and fascia boards (the trim behind your gutters) where moisture tends to sit after heavy rain.
Roofing & Exterior Integrity
If you're seeing isolated leaks, a few missing shingles, or minor flashing damage, a targeted repair is usually sufficient. We recommend a full replacement only if the underlying decking is damaged or if the shingles have reached the end of their functional lifespan (usually 15–20 years).
Look for granules (small pebbles) in your gutters, curling shingle edges, or dark spots on the underside of your roof deck if you have attic access.
Plumbing & Fixtures
While it might not flood your house, a single dripping faucet can waste hundreds of gallons of water per year, significantly increasing your utility bill. It can also lead to permanent pitting in the faucet valve, meaning you'll eventually have to replace the whole fixture instead of just a cheap washer.
Absolutely. Whether you've picked out a new vanity for a bathroom update or a touchless faucet for the kitchen, we can handle the professional installation and ensure all seals are watertight.
General Home Maintenance
Most of the time, no. A leaning fence is usually caused by one or two failed posts. We can often sister the posts or replace the specific supports to get your fence upright and sturdy again without the cost of a full replacement.
Yes. We pride ourselves on transparent pricing. We'll review your specific damage scenario and provide a clear, itemized breakdown of what it will take to get it fixed right the first time.
Pro Tip: Small repairs caught early — like a cracked seal on a window or a loose shingle — can save you thousands in major structural repairs down the road.
